Overtime thriller

Chris Gill scored at 1:19 of overtime to give the National Lacrosse League Vancouver Ravens a 16-15 victory over the visiting Albany Attack at GM Place Friday.

Cam Sedgwick and Chris Prat paced the Black Birds with three goals and three assists apiece.

Mike Law sent the contest into OT with a game-tying counter from New Westminster's Luke Ansley and Gill at 13:45.

Ansley finished with two goals and a pair of assists.

In its place

Christine Sinclair scored three goals, including the game-opener just five minutes in, as Canada's national women's soccer team defeated Group C winner Greece 7-1 in its placement game at the Algarve Cup Thursday.

Canada finished the round robin in fourth place in Group A with two points, following previous 1-1 draws to both the United States and Sweden. Canada lost 1-0 to Norway in its final group match.

"The three close games so far represent a big step forward for our team," national team coach Even Pellerud said in a press release.
