Golfer wins first tour stop

Golfing newcomer Kevin Vigna of Burnaby won the opening spring match play event on the 2003 Optimist Junior Linkster Tour Saturday.

Vigna won the peewee division for six- to eight-year-olds at the Rupert Park pitch and putt, edging Richmond's Nayan Calsin-Murdoch on a 19th hole playoff.

He also placed first in the putting and chipping skills competition.

Vigna also plays with the Burnaby minor hockey association.
